Sister José’s Women’s Shelter

We are so excited at the opportunity to sing next week with the women at Sister José’s Women’s Shelter. Thank you, Crystal, for your work to arrange this!

Crystal sends links to the terrific website about the shelter’s history and work.

Our members have asked what donation items are needed in addition to monetary donations:

….and also whether those of us interested might volunteer. Yes!

Finally, in “Singing for Justice,” we ask why women in our own Pima County are without a home, and how can we inform ourselves and further participate in this justice work. Excellent information is available from The University of Arizona Southwest Institute for Research on Women , which has released its thirty-seventh update to its report on Housing Insecurity Indicators and Potential Homelessness Estimates for Arizona and Pima County.

Although current efforts to end homelessness in our County are clearly not completely successful, information about what is being done by the Tucson Pima Collaboration to End Homelessness is here: https://tpch.net/
